Sturgess Company Information on Environment

Walter E. Sturgess was founded in 1897 and is a 4th Generation family business based in Leicester.

The core business activities of the Company is as franchised automotive retailers for the brands of Hyundai and Suzuki. These activities are conducted over 6 separate sites, all within the City and County of Leicester.

The latest turnover figure for the calendar year of 2020 was £88,200,000 and the Company currently employs 189 people.

The Royal Warrant to Her Majesty The Queen was granted in 1971 for the supply of Horse and Carriage Conveyances, as at that time, the Company were agents for the horsebox and trailer manufacturer Rice of Leicestershire. The Company also supplied 2 Horse lorries, based on Bedford TK and Ford D Series chassis.

The Company still maintains its relationship with the Royal Household with the regular provision of service and repairs for horse and carriage trailers operated by The Royal Mews. Due to the number of years the business has been operating, and also the high profile brands it represents, it does have a reputation for offering quality goods and services and has something of a “trusted” name. To that end, the Company ensures that its affairs are conducted with the highest level of scrutiny and that all trade, charitable and public relation affiliations are commensurate with a business that holds The Royal Warrant. The Company’s corporate environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility management is spearheaded by the Board of Directors.
