Volvo XC90 named SUV of the Year at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2016​

The Volvo XC90 has claimed another title under its belt winning the title of ‘SUV of the Year’ at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2016.

This award is especially significant as it is judged by 27of the most influential journalists in the UK who write for publications such as The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Top Gear and Auto Express.

The XC90 was specifically praised for its design, technology, safety and interior packaging with John Challen, the Editor and Managing Director of the UK Car of the Year Awards stating that the vehicle has a “stunning cabin – packed with game-changing technology – combined with luxury, space and great engineering , making the flagship Volvo a very enjoyable driving experience.”

Built on Volvo’s innovative SPA platform, the XC90 is the most technologically advanced car the brand has ever made. It is available with an intelligent petrol-electric plug-in hybrid powertrain that offers 407 hp yet emits only 49 g/km of CO2, which equates to a monthly Benefit-in-Kind tax bill of just £100.67 for a higher-rate taxpayer.

It is also at the top for connectivity. Its standard Sensus Connect system combines as intuitive nine-inch touchscreen display which includes pinch and zoom functionality along with a sophisticated voice control system. This feature also provides access to the internet and a range of cloud-based apps as well as the option of Apple CarPlay.
