ULEZ is the ‘Ultra Low Emission Zone’, introduced in April 2019 to help generate cleaner air in London.
ULEZ encourages the use of vehicles with low or zero emissions, which helps combat pollution and its adverse effects on our health and the environment.
It's in operation 24 hours a day, every day (except Christmas Day).
Anyone driving a vehicle within the Zone that doesn’t meet ULEZ emission standards is required to pay a daily charge of £12.50.
Currently, ULEZ covers all areas within the North and South Circular Roads (but not the actual roads themselves, the A406 and A205).
From 29 August 2023, ULEZ’s reach will expand to include all London boroughs.

All plug-in hybrid and pure-electric vehicles are exempt, ensuring that owners won’t be charged when driving within the Zone.
All Euro-4 compliant hybrid/petrol and Euro 6-compliant hybrid diesel cars are exempt from ULEZ charges too.
