Late last year Land Rover announced that they would be discontinuing one of its most loved models, the Land Rover Defender, ending production in December. One of the best commercial vehicles of all time, the Defender was loved by everyone from farmers to Hollywood directors!
To celebrate the success that the Defender has seen over the last 68 years, Land Rover will be releasing the Defender Celebration Series; three exciting new limited edition models each paying tribute to a different element of the Defender's unique history. The Heritage, Adventure and Autobiography Editions, powered by Land Rovers 2.2-litre diesel engine, are all available to order now.
"We wanted to mark the end of the Defender production at Solihull with a special edition but coming up with a single identity was impossible, so we developed three very different interpretations of the Defender to reflect its strength and breadth of character," said Nick Rogers, Vehicle Line Director at Land Rover.
This model will provide levels of performance and comfort previously unseen in a Defender! Its comprehensive equipment list includes full Windsor Leather interior and Semi Aniline premium leather seats, duo-tone paintwork, 16-inch Gloss Black Sawtooth alloy wheels, and a power upgrade from 122PS to 150PS. Land Rover has made the Autobiography Edition the most sought after Defender ever.
Available in an exclusive 90 Station Wagon body style with a choice of seven lower body colours wwith Santorini Black upper body, rear door, grille, headlamp surrounds and wheel arches, the Autobiography Edition will really bring back great memories to every Land Rover fan.
Available from April 2015 with prices starting from £61,500.
Based on a modern interpretation of the famous HUE 166 Land Rover dating back to 1947, the Heritage edition is one for the traditionalists. Cashmere Green metallic paintwork, Alaska White Roof, heavy duty steel wheels and heritage style grille helps to create a nostalgic feel.
The interior features a whole host of modern comforts and luxurious finishes, such as Bright Aluminium and perforated leather detailing, creating the perfect combination of a practical modern recreation of one of Britain's favourite cars.
Available from August 2015 with prices starting from £30,900
The Adventure Edition is designed with the Discovery's expedition heritage in mind and is perfect for customers who love to explore. The Adventure Edition is available in three metallic colour options – Corris Grey, Yulong White and Pheonix Orange – with contrasting Santorini Black paint for the Adventure grille, bonnet, roof and rear door. Meanwhile, new upper-body protection for the side sills and engine sump and Goodyear MT/R tyres enhance the Defender's already impressive off-road abilities. Land Rover has also added Seven-inch LED projector headlamps for improved visibility in poor conditions.
The interior features premium seats with Winsor Leathe upholstery, available in four different colourways, as well as leather trim steering wheel, gear knob and hand brake lever. The luxurious and stylish feel inside will make for the perfect shelter from the elements.
