Fiat put on quite a display at this year’s Geneva Motor Show with the brand debuting a number of new models including the Fiat 124 Spider, the Fiat Tipo hatchback and estate and the new Fiat 500S.
Making its first European revealing the new Fiat 124 Spider shone with its classic Italian styling that encapsulates that of its predecessor in a modern and bold package. Taking on a pure classic roadster look the new 124 Spider boasts a long wheelbase and bonnet complete with two power domes, ‘floating’ tail lamps and rear wings that flow inwards across the boot lid. The multi-layer hood is a manual unit that takes seconds to use for those spur-of-the-moment open air driving experiences.
Powering the 124 Spider is a 1.4-litre, MultiAir, turbo-charged four-cylinder engine, which delivers 140hp and 250Nm of torque. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the Fiat 124 Spider can accelerate to 62mph in just 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 134mph.
Trim levels are still to be confirmed for the UK. However, expected standard equipment is set to include four airbags, air conditioning, a leather steering wheel, cruise control, 16-inch alloy wheels, USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity and keyless start.
Making its global debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show was the new Fiat 500S.
Compared to the standard Fiat 500, the new Fiat 500S is fitted with sports bumpers, special side skirts and a rear spoiler, with the door handles, tailgate, mirror fairings and 15-inch alloy wheels finished in an exclusive ‘Satin Graphite” colour.Further benefits of the new model include rear privacy glass, a chrome-finished exhaust tailpipe, a bold rear grille and two specific body colours (Electronica Blue and a new matte green).
Inside, the new Fiat 500S is enhanced by black seats and a black roof lining which contrast with the door panels and seat edges which can be finished in blue, white or yellow. “Satin Graphite” colouring is present again in the detailing on the dashboard and special sports steering wheel.Frau leather with white or light blue details can be added as an optional extra inside while a full-colour TFT instrument display offering a wide range of functions is fitted as standard.
Joining the Tipo saloon and also making their debut at the Geneva Motor Show was the new Fiat Tipo hatchback and estate. Sharing the same principles, the new models offer exceptional roominess, specification, quality and efficiency, while still remaining stylish with a touch of Italian flair and impressive affordability.
The new Fiat Tipo hatchback provides exceptional space and is capable of accommodating three six-plus adult passengers in the rear thanks to first class legroom and headroom.Its boot capacity is also class-leading with a volume of 440-litres, while the estate version adds an additional 110-litres. In addition to this the Tipo also features numerous handy cabin compartments that take form in a variety of shapes and total no less than 12-litres. Easily reachable for passengers and drivers these compartments are perfect for storing personal objects such as smartphones and bottles.
There are five engine choices comprising of two diesel and three petrol engines.The 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine is especially impressive returning 76.3mpg and producing just 98g/km of CO2.
