Land Rover Discovery Sport named Best Premium 4x4

For the third time in four years Land Rover has claimed a major title in the BusinessCar Awards with the announcement that the Discovery Sport has been named the fleet publication’s Best Premium SUV 4x4 for 2016.

Uniquely, the BusinessCar Awards are not decided by a panel of experts but by fleet industry insiders through a poll of readers, with the winners being chosen by those who rely on a vehicle to help efficiently run their business.

On speaking about the win for the Discovery Sport, BusinessCar Editior, Paul Barker said “The Discovery Sport has moved Land Rover into the reach of many fleet drivers” thanks to its “practicality, running costs, quality and now, new diesel engines” which enables it to “compete with premium brands.”

This is the third title the Discovery Sport has claimed within the space of a few weeks, winning the Best Large SUV in the What Car? awards in early January, and the Best Diesel in the Scottish Car of the Year back in November.

Jeremy Hicks, UK Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover, said: “It is always great to receive awards – particularly when they have been decided by customers” and this award “demonstrates the Discovery Sport’s superiority in the company car market place.”

Discovery Sports new 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine is engineered to deliver first-class torque and power outputs, along with excellent refinement, reduced CO2 emissions and lower fuel consumption. The EU6 compliant Ingenium engine is available in 150PS and 180PS options, with the former offering up to 57.7mpg and CO2 emissions from 129g/km.

The Discovery Sport is also fitted with a range of class-leading safety features, such as a pedestrian airbag, Autonomous Emergency Braking and an array of driver assistance features, all of which have helped it earn a Five Star Euro NCAP rating.
