Land Rover has commissioned a special animation showcasing the history of the Range Rover as production of the original 2 door version ended 23 years ago last month and the SVAutobiography Dynamic goes on sale.
The animation, which lasts just under 90 seconds shows how the Range Rover retains many of its original design hallmarks that were established by the original vehicles in the 1970’s. The animation concludes with the latest model, the 550PS SVAutobiography Dynamic, which was built by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Operations division.
The Range Rover has sold 1.7 million cars to date and has kept many of its trademark features including the floating roof, continuous belt line and split tailgate.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Design Officer said ”Range Rover has, over time, achieved iconic design status through a progressive evolution of its unique DNA, culminating in a vehicle of peerless distinction. From its sense of evolution and sophisticated sensibilities inherent in its interior design to its understated yet powerful exterior proportions, Range Rover stands alone. There's simply nothing else like it.”
The Range Rover was one of the first vehicles to have permanent all wheel drive and was also the first vehicle to be displayed at the Louvre museum in Paris.
Range Rover is designed, engineered and manufactured in the UK and exported to more than 170 global markets.
