Jaguar has been producing iconic cars for over 100 years, from Le Mans champions to modern sporting saloons, and now fans will have the chance to drive them for the first time.
From modern day cars like the F-TYPE R Coupé to the legendary D-Type and E-Type models, there is a wealth of iconic cars available to visitors at the Jaguar Heritage Driving Experience. The event was made possible by Jaguar's recent acquisition of over 500 British heritage cars from a private collector, many of which will be driven by the public for the very first time, making this a special day for the cars as well as the drivers!
John Edwards, Managing Director for Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said: “This is the first experiential offering from our new division and is the first time in Jaguar's history that we have made a collection of vehicles of this calibre available for 'arrive and drive' experiences. It's an extremely exciting new project that underscores the very essence of what Special Operations is all about – celebrating heritage with our eyes firmly on the future."
A choice of three packages is available, beginning with the 'Jaguar Experience,' which starts from just £95 and offers passenger rides and the chance to drive alongside seasoned professionals, including some famous faces from the world of motorsport. The XK150 and the Mark 2 Saloon are ready and waiting, while selected pairings are also made available, including the Series 1 and 3 E-Types, or a combination of old and new with the E-Type and F-Type.
The second option is the 'Le Mans Experience,' which offers a sportier option and gives drivers the chance to follow in the footsteps of racing legends. The legendary C-Type and D-Types that served Mike Hawthorn and Duncan Hamilton so well during their domination of the famous race in the 1950's are both available, in addition to the XKSS and the F-TYPE R Coupé.
Finally, the 'Grace and Pace Experience' goes all out and gives visitors the chance to drive a massive selection of cars, both new and old. This offers a full day of driving Jaguar Heritage legends, including the modern XFR and F-TYPE R Coupé, and new creations that have been specially developed by the Special Operations division. The only interruption will be lunchtime, when visitors will be chauffeured by classic saloon cars to a nearby venue, allowing them to re-fill their tanks and prepare for even more driving – a proper petrol head's dream come true.
As part of this package, the very first visitors will be treated to exclusive guided viewings of the 'Perfect Ten' exhibition at Fen End. This exhibition showcases the super-rare SS100 and the priceless XJ13 among others, all handpicked by a panel that includes famous petrol head and AC/DC front man Brian Johnson.
The Jaguar Heritage Driving Experience starts in November and takes place at the 200-acre Fen End testing facility, in Warwickshire. For more details, visit www.jaguarheritagedriving.com.
