New Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing

It’s not the first time the Italian carmaker Fiat, who own Abarth, and Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha have joined forces. The two racing titans have even combined their talents to produce motorcycles for MotoGP. The Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing Edition, however, is the first in the collaboration that has been created specifically for public roads.

Striking exterior

Sporty red brake callipers, built into 17-inch matt-black-finish Formula alloy wheels create a striking effect. A dynamic rear spoiler also enhances the vehicle’s sporty roofline. Body-coloured door mirrors are heated and electrically-adjustable. Two twin Record Monza exhausts distinguish the rear of the car, and the ‘595’ logo and ‘Yamaha Factory Racing’ legend can be found on the tailgate. Body-coloured bumpers and tinted glass are subtle refinements. The Abarth 595 comes in Officina Red as standard, with six other colours available as optional extras – Gara White, Scorpione Black, Podium Blue and three shades of grey.

Comfortable interior

Black leather-clad racing seats provide comfort and support for you and your passenger, and the mechanical memory function is an added benefit. A leather-trimmed, flat-bottomed steering wheel looks the part, while a height-adjustable driver’s seat lets you find your ideal position. A Corsa kit adds Inox sport pedals and a footrest to the interior trim. Also part of the package are specially-made floor mats and stainless steel door kick plates. Front windows are operated electronically and the car also comes with central door locking. In addition, a heated rear window features wash-and-wipe functionality, and makes light work of dirt, ice and condensation.

Maximum performance

A 1.4-litre turbocharged engine produces up to 158bhp and a maximum torque of 230Nm at 3,000rpm (when using Sport mode). The car can accelerate from 0-60mph in 7.5 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 130mph. The Yamaha Factory Racing Edition also features five-speed manual transmission. A combined fuel consumption figure of up to 47.1mpg is possible, as are CO2 emissions as low as 139g/km. A combination of the vehicle’s brake callipers, Koni shock absorbers and Eibach lowered sports springs enable enhanced performance. This includes nimble cornering, pinpoint trajectories, greater traction and quicker braking speeds.

Technology and safety

Enjoy a range of audio options with a MP3 player and a Blue&Me infotainment package. Bluetooth connectivity allows you to stream music from compatible hand-held devices, and make calls hands-free. USB and AUX ports provide further options to plug, play and charge compatible media devices. Remote controls on the steering wheel keep you in control of audio functions safely.

The range of safety features includes Electronic Stability Programme (ESP). ESP automatically improves stability, offering greater control on difficult surfaces. Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution helps prevent skidding by allowing the car to turn when brake pressure is applied swiftly. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System features sensors in each wheel; if tyre pressure becomes unsafe these sensors send an alert to the car’s dashboard.
