In a daredevil stunt that even James Bond himself would be
proud of, the all-new Jaguar XF took park in a high-wire crossing in the heart
of London to promote its release.
British stunt driver Jim Dowall, with experience driving for big Hollywood movies such as James Bond, Bourne Identity and Indiana Jones, took to the wheel to drive the Jaguar XF along the 240 metre high-wire to demonstrate its lightweight aluminium construction – weighing in at 80kg lighter than its closest competitor – helping to achieve class-leading efficiency figures of 102g/km of CO2 and over 70mpg.
The XF also brings segment-leading figures for interior space thanks to a new coupe-like design that combines elegant surfaces, pure lines and outstanding proportions that provide exceptionally low aerodynamic drag that is a stable on all Jaguar cars.
The interior is a combination of contemporary, luxury materials and finishes, state-of-the-art technology and traditional Jaguar craftsmanship.
Ian Callum, Director of Design at Jaguar said: “In creating the all-new XF, as a design team we have been driven by discipline, the discipline of simplicity. Every exterior line on the XF has a clear purpose – nothing is superfluous. Achieving that simplicity takes time and requires great determination; it's all too easy to add lines to a car, but much harder to add character by leaving lines out.
“Inside too, we have been driven by the desire to ensure the XF's cabin is as comforting as it is comfortable. New technology, including our new 10.2-inch touchscreen, is combined carefully with materials that cosset and reassure. The all-new XF has a clear sense of calm and strength, both outside and inside – and I'm proud of my team for delivering that."
The all-new XF has retained all of the core attributes that made the original model such a huge success, but by using a 75 percent aluminium frame Jaguar was able to reduce the overall weight by up to 190kg. The new lightweight architecture also offers dramatic improvements to the internal space with a wheelbase of 2,960mm proving class leading leg room.
The XF is powered by either a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel or a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine that develops 163hp and 430Nm of torque and 240hp and 340Nm of torque respectively. A 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine will also be available with an impressive power output of up to 380hp and 450Nm of torque. And the 163hp 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine is kind to the environment too, emitting up to just 104g/km of CO2.
In addition to a stylish design and a range of fantastic engines, the XF also has unrivalled levels of in car technology including the all-new InControl Touch Pro system – featuring a 10.2-inch touch screen and Dual View Technology which allows the driver to access the navigation system whilst the front seat passengers watch a DVD or TV.
