200mph Jaguar roars through New York’s Park Avenue Tunnel

New York City’s Park Avenue Tunnel was recently closed off to the public for Jaguar to showcase the distinctive sound of its new F-TYPE SVR ahead of the 2016 New York International Auto Show.

Along with its performance and handling, the F-TYPE’s instinctive sound is one of the most talked about features of Jaguar’s highly successful sports car. The tunnel, which passes under seven blocks of the iconic Park Avenue area in Manhattan and is 422 metres in length, was the perfect location, offering a unique environment to experience the unique, purposeful and fierce edged sound delivered by the F-TYPE SVR.

Key to the new car’s rare sound is its Titanium and Inconel exhaust system which enhances the F-Type SRV’s high performance character even further. Adding further effect, a series of specially installed lights were featured on the vehicle which changed colour from white to Jaguar Red in tandem with its increasing acceleration throughout the tunnel.

The F-TYPE SVR also features the latest evolution of Jaguar’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 which delivers increased engine output and the ultimate performance and enjoyment.

Not stopping there, the F-TYPE SVR is also the first Jaguar SVR and the fastest F-TYPE with an impressive top speed of 200mph. It has been developed by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations to be lighter, quicker, faster and more powerful while remaining as a useable day-to-day car.
