At the Geneva Motor Show this year Hyundai reveal 3 models of its Ioniq car. These include a hybrid, plug in hybrid and fully electric model with a range of 110 miles. With the imminent release of the Tesla Model 3 and electric vehicles like the Chevrolet Bolt, which have a longer range, Hyundai is working hard on a solution.
Speaking with AutoBlog, Hyundai’s director of eco-friendly vehicle development, Byung Ki Ahn said that the company are working on a range of long-range electric vehicles.
The first vehicle will have a 200 mile range and is expected to be released in 2018. The second vehicle will have a range of 250 miles. Both of these will allow Hyundai to compete with the Tesla Model 3 and Model S respectively.
These vehicles will be part of Hyundai’s green strategy, which will see 26 new eco friendly models by the end of the decade.
