Hyundai has hired the former General Motor’s researcher to lead their newly established intelligent safety technology centre in the aims of developing fully autonomous vehicles.

The former General Motor’s researcher Lee Jin-Woo has been leading autonomous driving technology for over a decade and is expected to be a great addition to the Hyundai team.

The new centre will not only enhance existing Advanced Drive Assistance System technologies, but also conduct research into artificial intelligence related self-driving car technologies with the aim of commercializing those technologies” – Hyundai Motor Group

This is a step in the right direction for the future of Hyundai autonomous vehicles, with their aim of being able to develop highly autonomous vehicles by 2020 and fully autonomous vehicles by 2030.
