The all-new Alfa Romeo Giulia has been voted by readers of What Car? Magazine as the most eagerly-anticipated new car of 2016.
The new Giulia model places a high emphasis on light weight, perfect weight distribution and handling agility with its all-new rear drive platform. A range of advanced engines will be on offer- including a Ferrari-inspired 2.9-litre turbo-charged V6 producing 510hp in the top Quadrifoglio version.
With these features and unmistakeably stunning Italian design, it is no surprise that the new Alfa Romeo Giulia secured top place with 30% of the overall votes – 20% higher than the runner up vehicle.
Ten vehicles were shortlisted for the award which was voted by tens of thousands of What Car? readers who cast their votes for their most eagerly-anticipated new car of 2016. The Alfa Romeo Giulia held an early and unmistakeable lead, earning its first major UK award well in advance of its official launch later this year.
Commenting on the win, What Car? Editor, Jim Holder said: “You either have the X Factor or you haven’t – and the Alfa Romeo has it in spades. New Alfa’s have always had the power to intrigue and seduce in equal measure - the extrovert styling combining with the firm’s heritage to give the brand a unique appeal.”
On hearing about the win, Damien Dally County Manager Alfa Romeo UK said: “We are very grateful to the readers of What Car? for choosing the new Alfa Romeo Giulia as their most eagerly-anticipated model.” He further went on to explain that winning the award is “very significant” because it “demonstrates that this new car has what it takes to succeed” and that when people drive the new Giulia for the first time “it will not just meet their expectations, it will exceed them.”
