The eagerly anticipated Volvo V90 has just been revealed and not only is it an icon, but a beautiful one at that.
Sister car to the S90 saloon, the V90 is unsuprisingly a similar shape offering first-class aesthetics, materials and finish. Inside, you will find a light, spacious and elegant cabin with all the features you could possibly need. Cargo space isn't an issue either thanks to innovative storage solutions which enable the V90 to carry up to an impressive 1526 litres.
The V90 also get the same dashboard layout as the S90, including the same large touchscreen infotainment interface aand digital dashboard technology. As always safety is class-leading with intelligent Pilot Assist semi-autonomous drive technology, the most advanced safety package on the market, which includes Large Animal Detection and Run-off Road Mitigation, as well as first-class connectivity, including smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay.
Leading the powertrain option is the range-topping, T8 Twin engine plug in hybrid which combines a 87hp electric motor to a 2.0-litre diesel to give a combined output of 401bhp and 472lb or torque. CO2 emissions stand at 47g/km and fuel economy at 134.5mpg, with a pure electric range of up to 31 miles.
Engines in the rest of the range are all 2.0-litre, four-cylinder units. This includes a 250bhp T5 petrol engine and a 232bhp D5 diesel engine as well as 187bhp D4 diesel engine which is expected to be the biggest seller. The D4 uses a two-stage turbo and is claimed to have a fuel economy of 62.7mpg and a CO2 rating of 119g/km making it a very competitive option indeed.
There's no official word on a release date or prices for the V90 as yet, but entry-level models are expected to start at around £42,000, with the first cars arriving towards the end of 2016.
