Sturgess of Leicester are proud to be supporters of the Motability Scheme in Leicestershire. The government-funded operation is to help people with disabilities become increase their mobility and gain independence by using their mobility allowance to get a brand new, specially adapted Volvo.

Am I Eligible?

If you receive the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement, you may be eligible to exchange part or all of your allowance for the Volvo of your choice. If you can't drive, you can nominate drivers to drive for you. Parents or carers of a disabled child can apply on their behalf.

Hire Options

Under the Volvo Motability Scheme there are two available hire options - Hire Purchase and Contract Hire.

You can have a new car on a lease of three years under the Contract Hire agreement. Included in this agreement are servicing & maintenance costs, tax, insurance and breakdown cover. Adaptations may be made to your Volvo Motability car at no extra cost.

Under the Hire Purchase agreement, you can buy your own car with a contract that lasts between two and five years. You will be responsible for arranging your own maintenance, insurance, tax and breakdown cover under this agreement.

Adaptations

In order to make your Volvo Motability car easier for you to drive, you can have it adapted in the following way:

•    Push/Pull Hand Control - enables you to control your speed by hand if you have difficulty with foot pedals
•    Easy Release Handbrake - makes using the handbrake easier if you have limited movement in your arms
•    Swivel Seat - makes entering and exiting your car easier if you have limited flexibility
•    Steering Wheel Ball - gives you control over steering if you only have the use of one hand or find it difficult to grip a steering wheel
