Suzuki has started the year on a high with two of its models being featured in What Car? magazine’s top ten most economical small petrol cars on sale in the UK today. The publication’s week long real-world MPG tests compare official combined fuel economy figures with those achieved when cars are driven by their technicians on the open road.
Topping the table as the most efficient city car model was the frugal 1.0-litre Suzuki Celerio Dualjet, achieving a “True MPG” of 62.9mpg, and was placed as the second most economical car out of a total of 165 cars tested during 2015. On awarding the Suzuki its high-class position What Car? said that the Celerio is the “most economical small petrol car our technicians have tested” and that aside from “impressive economy” it is also “well equipped and comes with a versatile interior, making it a decent buy.”
The other Suzuki model to reach the top 10 was the 1.2-litre Suzuki Swift with manual transmission which attained a “True MPG” of 51.7mpg. When speaking about the Swift, What Car? commented that it “offers great value for money” and that the MPG tests show it is “reasonably cheap to fuel.”
The Suzuki Swift and Celerio are both available with Suzuki’s innovative Dualjet Technology. This technology smartly positions the fuel injectors very close to the engine inlet valves, which allows for finer fuel mixture, and in turn, results in a more effective transfer into the powertrain. Smooth running of the vehicles is further facilitated thanks to internal modifications such as the use of a new inlet port and combustions chamber, along with other refined mechanical parts.
Speaking about the result, Dale Wyatt, Sales and Marketing Director at Suzuki GB PLC, said that it “proves the exceptional value for money that the Suzuki model range provides to today’s motorists” as well as the “impressive return on investment they receive for every gallon of fuel they purchase.”
