Range Rover SVAutobiography reaches new heights of luxury and refinement
The New York Auto Show took place the first week of April and was host to hundreds of important announcements throughout the motoring world. Perhaps the biggest splash was made by Land Rover, as they revealed the new Range Rover SVAutobiography, the new top-of-the-range model.
Taking the flagship Range Rover to even greater levels of sophistication, the SVAutobiography features a whole host of new features and exquisite detailing that further illustrate why Range Rover has a reputation for being one of the most luxurious and capable vehicles around.
For the first time ever, customers are able to select a unique duo-tone body colour option, with a Santorini Black upper body and a choice of nine colours for the lower body, creating a stylish, distinctive look whilst giving the owner a real sense of individuality. Both the bonnet and the tailgate both feature the new SVAutobiography badging and the front grille has been finished with a distinctive Graphite Atlas and polished chrome, adding to the impressive exterior visuals.
Despite having a stylish and visually stunning exterior, it is on the inside where the SVAutobigoraphy really sets itself apart from the competition. The majority of the driver’s switchgear, including the start-stop surround and rotary controls, are made from solid aluminium with stunning knurled details, while the foot pedals have also been designed in the same way. The front and rear centre consoles have been created with an equally distinctive design in mind, with cup holders, socket covers and armrest adjusters all featuring a similar level of high quality detail.
The rear seats allow passengers to relax in complete comfort with luxurious seating, a chilled fridge compartment and electronically deployed tables. Aluminium seat rail finishes, a deep twist pile mohair carpet and aluminium coat hooks complete the luxurious feel.
Customers will also be able to enjoy the use of the ‘Event Seating’ system. This has two seats stored in the luggage compartment that can be deployed quickly and easily to provide comfortable seating for two adults on the rear tailgate, perfect for camping trips or stargazing!
Owners can also choose to have an optional sliding loadspace floor, extending rearwards to maximise the load space and make loading and unloading much easier.
The SVAutobiography will be replacing the Autobiography Black at the top of the Range Rover line-up when it arrives in 2016 and will be the perfect combination of luxury and power with a 550PS V8 Supercharged engine that produces 680Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. Mated with a smooth and sophisticated eight-speed automatic transmission, the SVAutobiography is the perfect blend of performance, in-gear flexibility and ride comfort.
Customers will be able to choose from full range of Range Rover powertrains with the TDV6, SDV6 Hybrid, SDV8 and the SCV6 supercharged derivatives all available with increases in efficiency and performance for the 2016 model year. The SDV6 Hybrid delivers an outstanding fuel economy figure of 33.8mph whilst emitting just 219g/km of CO2.
The 2016 model year SVAutobiography is being billed at the most luxurious SUV in the world and owners will benefit from a wide range of additional safety and convenience features. These include a new and improved Surround Camera System with improved graphics and an integrated washer jet to keep the rear camera clear at all times, the Gesture Tailgate system that provides hand free access to the luggage area and the Automatic Access Height system automatically lowers the vehicle when parked to allow for improved entry and exit.
The InControl system has also seem improvements, offering even greater smartphone connectivity, user convenience and market availability. The new InControl Premium allows owners to check their fuel level, lock and unlock the doors and flash the lights or sound the horn to help locate their vehicle in a crowded car park, all at the touch of their smartphone.
The Range Rover SVAutobiography will go on sale in the summer, along with the rest of the Range Rover 2016 model year line-up.
