As of today, February 15th 2017, you will be able to pay for your petrol in the comfort of your own car with the new partnership between Jaguar and Shell. This industry first will see Jaguar drivers being able to pay for their fuel with a new innovative touchscreen app that allows you to pay via PayPal or Apple Pay; Android Pay is to be added later in 2017.
The Shell app is available for download as part of a New Year update for Jaguar XE, XF and F-PACE models; and the app will soon become available across the entire Jaguar and Land Rover range.
This new simple but secure app has been developed to improve the customer experience of a necessary and often time-consuming activity. Drivers will no longer have to waste time queuing and parents will no longer have the headache of having to take the children out the car. The fuel receipt will be sent straight to your e-mail, so you can be confident knowing you’ve paid and also can be used for the logging of work journeys.
“In a world where cash is no longer king, customers are increasingly using electronic payments and contactless cards. Making a payment directly from a car’s touchscreen will make refuelling quicker and easier. With this new system you can choose any pump on the forecourt and pay for the fuel even if you’ve forgotten your wallet or can’t find your credit or debit card. You will save time because there’s no more queuing to pay in a shop, and for drivers with children, it won’t be necessary to wake them up, or unstrap them from their seats to take them into the shop. Expenses and tax returns will also be made much simpler; with no receipts to lose as these will all be sent electronically” - Peter Virk, Director of Connected Car and Future Technology
