Jaguar has revealed more details about the new Jaguar XE – this time detailing about the state-of-the-art infotainment system.
Dr Mike Bell, Jaguar's Global Connected Car Director, says, “with the all-new XE we're introducing an entire suite of cutting-edge driver aids and entertainment systems. Designed and developed from scratch, they will ensure that every journey you take is simpler, more relaxing, safer, and effortlessly enjoyable."
The new XE's InControl infotainment system is designed around an 8" touchscreen. The easy-to-use and intuitive interface gives quick and easy access to all features, and features voice control so the drivers can keep their eyes on the road at all times.
The new system has been designed with smartphones in mind. With Jaguar InControl Remote, Apple and Android users can connect to the car from anywhere and control a range of vehicle functions – including pre-setting of the XE's climate control system and locking or unlocking the car.
Users can also use Jaguar InControl Apps to seamlessly access smartphone apps through the 8" touchscreen – or access the internet, using the XE as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Using the vehicle's antenna to connect, Jaguar has ensured that the XE receives the best possible signal.
The new sophisticated driver aids include an industry first - a laser head-up display (HUD) that projects sharp, high-contrast images onto the windscreen. The new HUD can provide the driver information about speed and sat nav instructions for example, offering maximum clarity with minimum distraction.
The Jaguar XE world premiere will be held later this year in London on 8th September.
