The Jaguar XE sports saloon claimed victory in Euro NCAP’s prestigious Best in Class Cars of 2015 awards, achieving top place in the large family car category.
Already receiving the maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP, the XE sailed through the demanding test protocols with Euro NCAP praising its high levels of active and passive safety systems fitted to the XE as standard.
Kevin Stride, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar XE, XF and F-PACE said the aim for the XE was to “provide outstanding levels of occupant and pedestrian safety” and by “combining our Advanced Aluminium Architecture with the most advanced technology available we were able to meet all of our targets.”
For the first time Euro NCAP’s 2015 test protocols brought in the new full width frontal crash test system, making it harder than ever to gain a five star rating. However, thanks to the XE’s light, stiff Advanced Aluminium Architecture and latest advanced driver assistance systems the XE met this challenge.
As well as an excellent result for Adult Occupant protection, the XE outscored the competition on Pedestrian protection and Safety Assist, as a result of features including the deployable bonnet and Autonomous Emergency Braking.
On awarding the XE, Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General, Euro NCAP, said: “Euro NCAP gives top honours to the Jaguar XE which offers the highest levels of occupant protection and avoidance technology” and we “particularly congratulate Jaguar for making all important Safety Assist features standard equipment.”
