In a double success for Jaguar, the new Jaguar XE and the all-new XF have just been awarded the maximum five star rating in Euro NCAP’s safety tests.
The XE and XF impressed the judges in every category which included - Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Pedestrian and Safety assist.
Both models boast a huge array of active safety technologies and advanced assistance systems to keep driver, passengers and pedestrians safe. Autonomous Emergency Braking, which is fitted as standard in all European models, uses a forward-facing stereo camera to detect vehicles which could pose a threat of collision. If risk is detected, the vehicle will give the driver visual and audible warnings and automatically apply the brakes if a collision is deemed imminent.
Other safety features on the models include Dynamic Stability Control, Traction Control, Emergency Brake Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Closing Vehicle Sensing, Reverse Traffic Detection, Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Cruise Control. On top of this the XF also includes Lane Keep Assist, Driver Condition Monitor and Adaptive Speed Limiter for the ultimate safety package.
The Jaguar XE and XF have been engineered from Jaguar’s lightweight aluminium architecture which enables their body structure to be inherently light, yet extremely strong, resulting in exceptional occupant protection. Further safety is offered with multiple airbags as well as a deployable bonnet which helps mitigate serious injuries in the unlikely event of pedestrian impact.
Kevin Stride, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar XE, XF, F-PACE said that the two models were “engineered without compromise” and they “placed as much focus on safety as we did on dynamics, performance, refinement and efficiency.”
