Motability

At Sturgess Fiat of Leicester, we are dedicated to supporting the Fiat Motability Scheme in Leicestershire. This government-funded operation helps people with a disability become more mobile and gain independence by exchanging their mobility allowance for a new and specially adapted car.

Am I Eligible?

Anyone who receives the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement can exchange part or all of their allowance for the Fiat car of their choice. If you are currently unable to drive, you can nominate up to two drivers to drive for you and parents or carers of a disabled child can apply on their behalf.

Hire Options

Under the Fiat Motability Scheme, there are two hire options available - Contract Hire and Hire Purchase.

Under the Contract Hire agreement, you can get a new Fiat car on a lease of three years. Servicing & maintenance, tax, insurance and breakdown cover are all included in this agreement and you can have adaptations made to your Fiat Motability vehicle at no extra charge.

Under the Hire Purchase agreement, you are able to buy your own Fiat car on a contract that lasts between two and five years. Under the agreement, you are responsible for arranging your own maintenance, insurance, tax and breakdown cover.

Adaptations

In order to make your Fiat Motability car easier to drive, you can adapt it to suit your needs. There is a range of adaptations available, with the most popular being:

•    Push/Pull Hand Control - this enables you to control your speed if you have difficulty with foot pedals
•    Easy Release Handbrake - makes applying and releasing the handbrake easy
•    Swivel Seat - makes getting in and out of your car easier
•    Steering Wheel Ball - gives you greater control over steering
