The new, high-performance Alfa MiTo and Giulietta ‘Quadrifoglio Verde’ have made their debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show this week. These will combine 90 years of ‘Quadrifoglio Verde’ heritage with the astounding Alfa Romeo 4C supercar.
The new Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde will share the same engine as the 4C, with a 1750 turbo-charged petrol engine featuring direct-injection dual variable valve timing, combined with a state-of-the-art ALFA TCT six-speed transmission. This delivers an impressive 240hp at 6,000rpm and 250lb ft of torque between 2,100 and 4,000 rpm. The Giulietta QV accelerates from 0 to 60mph in just 6.6 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the current car, and can reach 149mph.
Inside, there are new leather and Alcantara sports seats, and the steering wheel, gear lever boot and handbrake lever are all leather wrapped with white and green stitching. Additional upgrades are new instruments featuring the QV logo, distinctive aluminium sports pedals, a black roof lining and special floor mats. All versions also feature the Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity.
Externally, the Giulietta QV’s looks have been tweaked to make it identifiable, with a glossy anthracite finish on the door mirrors, front grille, door handles and fog light bezels, as well as large exhaust tailpipes, new anthracite alloy rims, side skirts, a rear spoiler and red four-piston Brembo brake callipers with 320mm front discs. And of course, it features the Quadrifoglio Verde emblem on the front wings.
The new MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde features a new 1.4 litre MultiAir Turbo Petrol engine, which develops 170hp at 5,500 rpm and up to 250 Nm at 2,500rpm in Sport Mode. As with the Giulietta QV, it is fitted with a six-speed, double dry-clutch ALFA TCT transmission as standard, with automatic or sequential manual shifting, either via the gear lever or steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. Due to these new technologies, it returns a 52.3mpg and has CO2 emissions of just 124g/km – and this is even more impressive when you consider the car is capable of 0 – 62 mph in just 7.3 seconds, and has a top speed of 136mph.
External enhancements for the MiTo QV include a burnished finish for exterior detailing, twin chrome exhaust tailpipes, a rear spoiler, sports rear bumper, 17” alloy wheels and red Brembo brake callipers. Once again, the Quadrifoglio Verde emblem is featured on the front wings.
Inside, the MiTo QV is equipped with air conditioning and cruise control, and luxurious leather steering wheel, gear-lever boot and handbrake lever with contrasting stitching. All versions also feature the Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity. Sabelt sports seats with wraparound carbon fibre backrests and the Alfa Romeo logo embossed into the Alcantara material are additional optional extras.
To celebrate, Alfa Romeo is introducing a special Launch Edition Quadrifoglio Verde, with a limited run of just 100 vehicles for the UK market. This edition will be further enhanced with carbon spoilers, front and rear sports air dams and side skirts, and 18” alloy wheels. The Launch Edition will be available in Alfa Red, Competizione Red (triple coat) or the exclusive Matte Magnesio Grey.
