Pricing and specification for the all-new Abarth 595 has just recently been announced, and with a starting price of just £15,090 OTR for the 1.4 TJet 145hp Manual, the new car represents outstanding value for money.

Heir of the original model launched in 2008, the new Abarth 595 offers performance, technology and of course iconic Italian styling. Available as hatchback or convertible, the new Abarth 595 is offered in three trim level: 595, 595 Turismo and 595 Competizione, and three power levels to satisfy the increasing requirements of competent customers.

The unique yet affordable 595 version is the Abarth entry level model and provides driver and passengers with all the standard equipment needed to ensure a typical Scorpion drive.

Engine and gearbox

One of the biggest highlights on the new Abarth 595 and Turismo versions is the increased power of the 1.4 T-jet engine. The first delivers 145 HP and 206 Nm of peak torque, while the second reaches 165 HP and 230 Nm. For those who want a true adrenaline rush the 180 HP 595 Competizione will do nicely in terms of performance and technical features.

The 1.4-litre engine is nifty, accelerating from 0-62mph in just 6.7 seconds and safe braking is guarantee thanks the oversize Brembo braking system with four-piston fixed aluminium callipers. The engine also achieves a specific power of 132 HP/litre as a result of high-performance Record Monza exhaust with dual mode system.

As standard, all variants of the 1.4 T-jet engine are paired with a mechanical five-speed gearbox but they can be fitted with an Abarth robotised sequential gearbox with shift paddles if desired.

Abarth mechanical limited-slip differential

The new Abarth 595 is the only car in its segment to fit an exclusive mechanical limited-slip differential, for outstanding performance. Available on demand, the Abarth mechanical limited-slip differential features on the 595 Competizione with manual transmission and exploits its full potential.

The mechanical limited-slip differential improves traction in extreme conditions, ensuring adequate torque transfer between the front wheels when either has less grip.

Brakes, Suspension and Sport Button

Koni FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) rear shock absorbers are fitted as standard on the 595 Turismo and Competizione which optimise the driving experience and safety by improving road-hold, handling and stability. In addition to this, the 595 Competizione also gets the same shocks fitted as standard on the front suspension, offering a considerable increase in dynamic performance.

Also, on the top-of-the-range version is the Brembo braking system with four aluminium monoblock fixed callipers in standard red or optional black or yellow.

The Abarth 595 is also fitted with a Sport button to change different parameters of the car.

Outside, the new Abarth 595 has introduced many new features which have helped improve performance. For example, the front end which has been redesigned and now has an oversized air intake. As a result, heat management in the engine compartment has been improved and the cooling capacity has increased by 18%.

Abarth engineers have also worked on the rear bumper creating a more pronounced diffuser. Specific bumper inserts have also been created for each trim level: matte black for the 595, matching body colour on the 595 Turismo and Anthracite grey on the 595 Competizione.

The new 17-inch Granturismo rims (standard on 595 Turismo) are 7% lighter and have over 50% more ventilating surface to the benefit of heat dissipation, resulting in a more consistent braking system performance. Distinctive features of the new Abarth 595 include new satin chrome trim on the 595 and 595 Turismo, new mirror caps and new side stripes that are now wider and longer to illustrate greater emphasis to the Abarth brand.

There are an impressive 15 body colours to choose from including pastel, metallic and tri-coat paints along with five bi-colour liveries.
