The natural successor to the 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione, the Biposto is a little car with a lot of power. Biposto translates as ‘two-seater’ and while this car offers a fun and exhilarating driving experience for one, it is even better when you bring a friend along.
The Biposto deviates significantly from the Fiat 500 in its construction and styling, complemented by supercar features. The front-end is adorned by Abarth’s distinctive emblem – a scorpion set against a red and yellow background, but with the 695 Biposto badge found below. Vibrant Xenon headlights sit at the front of the vehicle, along with fog lamps to increase visibility in poor weather. Lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels by OZ are wrapped in 245/36 R18 tyres. Flanking the car, an updated rear spoiler extends the roofline and there are twin titanium exhausts pipes supplied by Akrapovič.
The racing-style dashboard instantly sets the tone for the cockpit. Abarth Corsa leather and Alcantara bucket seats, made by Sabelt, feature ‘695’ stitched into the headrests. At your feet you will find aluminium sports pedals with a titanium finish that offer an assured grip. A height-adjustable steering wheel lets you find your optimal position, and offers electric-powered steering. Electric front windows, central locking and electrically-adjustable door mirrors are all easy to operate. A heated rear windscreen helps eliminate frost and condensation quickly. The Biposto weighs less than 1,000kg, thanks to the use of materials such as carbon fibre, which plays a big part in the cabin. Carbon fibre is light and strong, and Abarth have used it in the vehicle’s pillars, door panels, centre console and mirror covers. If you take the Biposto onto the track, owning the optional Pista kit adds to the excitement. This comes with a personalised racing helmet, Sabelt carbon-shell racing seats and seat belts and an MXL2 digital dashboard data logger – ideal for talented amateurs and professional racers.
Equipped with the 1.4-litre T-JET engine, the Biposto accelerates from 0-60mph in a class-leading time of six seconds and has a top speed of 143mph. It also delivers up to 187bhp and a maximum torque of 250Nm at 2,500rpm. The vehicle’s power-to-weight ratio is the best of any vehicle of its kind too.
Five-speed manual transmission comes as standard, with the option to upgrade to a five-speed ‘dog-ring’ set-up. Despite its strength and velocity, the Biposto is capable of up to 45.9mpg.
Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution helps prevent skidding by maintaining a grip on a range of surfaces. It also enables you to steer around objects that might unexpectedly appear in the road. Keeping tabs on the air pressure of each tyre is simple with Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, which alerts you if there is any significant deviation.
A rear tubular strut brace provides extra rigidity to the chassis and a safer environment for passengers. Several airbags are positioned at knee and window level to provide optimal protection.
